Live to ride, but always ride to live!Our Test Courses
To gain a full motorcycle licence, you will have to complete the following 4 steps;
- A CBT (Compulsory Basic Training). To take this test you must provide a valid provisional driving licence, showing entitlement for category A. The certificate (DL196) is valid for 2 years.
- The Motorcycle Theory Test. This can be done before or after the CBT, but is required before the next steps. The certificate is valid for 2 years. To take this test you must provide a valid provisional driving licence, showing entitlement for category A.
- The Motorcycle Manoevres Test (Module 1). To take this test you must provide a valid provisional driving licence, showing entitlement for category A, CBT Certificate (DL196) and Theory Test Certificate. This must be passed prior to taking Module 2.
Note - The certificate for this expires at the same time your theory certificate expires. - The Motorcycle Road Test (Module 2). To take this test you must provide a valid provisional driving licence, showing entitlement for category A, CBT Certificate (DL196), Theory Test Certificate and Module 1 Pass Certificate.
Our test courses are designed to prepare you for both modules of the test, and to provide you with the skills to ride safely once you have your licence. Regardless of which size bike you are taking the test on, your course will be split into 2 sections;
- Main course, which will prepare you for both module tests, will usually be done as an intensive course over several days, depending on your current skills, and will culminate with the Module 1 test. Most of our Module 1 tests are conducted at Kingswood on a Monday or Tuesday, but other days are sometimes available. This course can also be done over a course of several weeks, with half or one day a week, providing sufficient notice is given.
- Module 2 course, done only after successful completion of module 1, usually taken later the same week or the week after the Module 1 is passed, depending on test availability. This is usually just 2 hours practice prior to the test, then the test itself, and is usually taken at Weston-super-Mare. Test days at Weston are limited by the DSA normally to one day a week, most often the Friday. If this is not suitable, tests on other days can be arranged on other days, usually at Kingswood.
